What do you see?The Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer will provide tooling, machine and equipment design and related engineering support for inspection equipment at BWR and PWR nuclear plants.Integrate tooling machine and equipment requirements with plant as-built conditions and practical field applications.Generate and prepare engineering documents such as concept drawings, fabrication drawings, mechanical stress calculations, installation and operation procedures, and reports.Perform independent verification of designs (including functional tests) and participate in design review meetings.Assist and provide leadership in the fabrication and outsourcing support processes.Develop concepts and designs for new product development projects.Support field delivery needs and customer interface as necessary.QualificationsBS degree in mechanical engineering.Minimum of 5+ years of design experience.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international plant sites (estimatedDesiredStrong mechanical aptitude and knowledgeable in the design of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and/or electro-mechanical systems.Knowledgeable in structural design basics, beams, plates, fastening and joining.Knowledgeable with the use of mechanical and structural tolerances, understand fabrication processes and fabrication requirements.Proficient in 3-D CAD design and computer skills.Demonstrated communication and team interaction skills.Familiar with AISC Manual of Steel Construction, ASTM material specifications, AWS welding codes, NDE methods, and ASME code.Proficient in the use of AutoDesk Inventor.Familiar with general purpose finite element analysis methods.Ability to occasionally work under significant schedule pressure, e.g. to develop tool and equipment designs for emergent outage.Capable of working closely with multi-disciplined team members.Ability to work closely with an engineering mentor.GeneralGE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC.GE developed breakthrough light water technology in the mid-1950s called the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR).
